If you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour, as a follower of Christ you should become more and more like Him. Here’s how you can do that:
What you can do on your own
Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
Talk to God in prayer every day.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)
Be baptized.
And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.’ (Acts 22:16)
What you need to do with others
We are designed for community. We’re in this together. Here are some of things the Bible says we need to be doing for one another.
Honour One Another
Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Romans 12:10 (NLT)
Accept One Another
Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory.
Romans 15:7 (NLT)
Serve One Another
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. Galatians 5:13 (NLT)
Don’t Condemn One Another
So let’s stop condemning each other. Decide instead to live in such a way that you will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Romans 14:13 (NLT)
Submit to One Another
And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:21(NLT)
Forgive One Another
Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Colossians 3:13 (NLT)
Encourage One Another
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT)
Love One Another
You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart. 1 Peter 1:22 (NLT)
