Notes from message What it takes to see the Kingdom of God manifested on earth – Part 2

Have you ever taken a moment to look around and think about how this world could really reflect the beauty and perfection of heaven? Imagine a place where every act of kindness, every miracle, and every moment of healing shines like a beacon of God’s Kingdom right here on earth.

As believers, we’re not just bystanders; we’re active participants in making this heavenly reality come to life. Jesus, through His teachings and His life, has shown us how we can bring God’s Kingdom to earth today. So, let’s explore what it truly takes to see this Kingdom manifested here as it is in heaven!

Let’s start with a powerful verse from Matthew 6:10: “Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” That’s our goal, right? But what does that really mean?

Understanding the Kingdom of God

First off, what is the Kingdom of God? We touched on this last week, and if you missed it, I invite you to check it out on YouTube. Don’t forget to like and subscribe—we’re aiming for 1,000 subscribers!

In Luke 17:20-21, Jesus tells us that the Kingdom of God isn’t something that’s coming with signs for us to see. It’s not about saying, “Look! Here it is!” or “There it is!” No, the Kingdom is already in our midst! As believers, we’re already part of His Kingdom. Our mission is to spread it around the world, just like the early Church did.

Early Church Community

Let’s look at Acts 2:42–47. This passage describes how the early Christians devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. They shared everything they had and took care of one another’s needs. Day by day, they grew in number as they praised God together. This sense of community and service is what the modern Church needs to embrace again.

Not in This Alone

In Romans 12:3–10, Paul tells us we’re not alone in this journey. We each have gifts that we should use to serve one another. The Holy Spirit equips us to do things beyond our abilities. So, if you ever think, “I can’t do this,” remember Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

Our last series focused on partnering with the Holy Spirit, who gives us supernatural gifts to help expand God’s Kingdom. But let’s also remember that the Holy Spirit produces fruit in our lives (Galatians 5:22-23).

Jesus spoke more about the Kingdom than any other topic. So let’s take a closer look together!

Jesus’s Teachings on the Kingdom

Parables of the Kingdom

Consider the parables Jesus shared, like the mustard seed and the yeast in Matthew 13:31–33. These stories highlight how small beginnings can lead to big outcomes. They remind us that what starts small can grow into something incredible—just like a little boy’s lunch fed thousands!

The Example of St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi is a great example of someone who lived out Jesus’ teachings. He came from wealth but chose a life of poverty and service after experiencing a spiritual awakening. His compassion for the marginalized was profound; he even kissed a leper, showing love where others turned away.

Francis preached simplicity and humility, emphasizing that it’s about being an instrument of peace—just like in his famous prayer. His deep love for creation also reflects the harmony of God’s Kingdom.

The Beatitudes

Let’s talk about the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:3-12. They remind us that true blessings come from humility and compassion rather than worldly success. So often, we seek our rewards here on earth, but Jesus teaches us to store up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21).

The Reformation

Now, let’s touch on the Reformation. This pivotal movement in the 16th century aimed to realign the Church with Jesus’ teachings and values. Reformers like Martin Luther emphasized Scripture as the ultimate authority and recognized that salvation comes through faith alone.

We still hold these beliefs today! Many Christians are part of what we call the Protestant Church because they protested against practices they believed were unaligned with biblical teachings.

Active Engagement in Manifesting the Kingdom

So how do we actively engage in manifesting God’s Kingdom today? Matthew 25:35-40 gives us a clear picture: When we serve those in need—feeding the hungry, welcoming strangers, or comforting the sick—we’re serving Jesus Himself.

We need to be willing to sacrifice our comforts for the sake of others. Remember Jesus said He came to serve, not to be served (Matthew 20:28). And He showed us how to love one another (John 13:34-35).

In Conclusion

What does it take to manifest God’s Kingdom on earth? It requires believers who are ready to partner with the Holy Spirit in sacrificial service. It might feel like giving without receiving at times, but that’s not how God’s Kingdom works! Jesus reminded us in Luke 6:38 that when we give, it will be given back to us abundantly.

So let’s commit together to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33), trusting that God will take care of everything else.

Let’s pray for God’s guidance and strength as we strive to live out His Kingdom here on earth!
