This Sunday Pastor Shawn will be looking at Practicing the Presence of God. The Practice of the Presence of God is a book by Brother Lawrence a 17th-century Carmelite monk.
You can follow any of those links to find out more about him and his works.
Maybe you remember the hymn – I need Thee every hour. The lyrics are:
1
I need Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.
Chorus
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior!
I come to Thee.
2
I need Thee every hour,
Stay Thou near by;
Temptations lose their power
When Thou art nigh.
3
I need Thee every hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain.
4
I need Thee every hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill.
5
I need Thee every hour,
Most Holy One;
Oh, make me Thine indeed,
Thou blessed Son.
The message of the song and Brother Lawerance give us a good basis to look at the scripture and see what it says about remembering we’re to practice the presence of God.
