21 Amazing Bible Verses on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Matthew 28:5-7 (NLT) “The angel said to the women, ‘Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there. Remember what I told you.'”

Matthew 28:9-10 (NLT) “Suddenly Jesus was standing there beside them. ‘Greetings,’ he said. They came to him, held his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said, ‘Don’t be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and they will see me there.'”

Mark 16:1-7 (NLT) “When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so they could go anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on Sunday morning, just after sunrise, they went to the tomb. They were saying to each other, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?’ But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. ‘Don’t be alarmed,’ he said. ‘You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid his body. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee. You will see him there, just as he told you.'”

Mark 16:14 (NLT) “Later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating; he reprimanded them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.”

Luke 24:1-7 (NLT) “But very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the entrance, but when they entered the tomb, they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus. As they stood there puzzled about this, two men suddenly appeared to them, clothed in dazzling robes. The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, ‘Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here—he’s risen! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.'”

Luke 24:5-7 (NLT) ” ‘Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn’t here—he’s risen! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’ “

Luke 24:36-39 (NLT) “While they were still talking about this, Jesus stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ But they were startled and terrified and thought they were seeing a ghost. ‘Why are you frightened?’ he asked. ‘Why are these doubts rising in your hearts? Look at my hands. Look at my feet. You can see that it is really I. Touch my hands and feel. A ghost doesn’t have flesh and bones, as you see I have.'”

Luke 24:44-49 (NLT) “Then he said, ‘When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must be fulfilled.’ Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. He told them, ‘This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.'”

John 20:1-10 (NLT) “Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and told them, ‘They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!’ So Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. Both of them were running, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first. He bent over and looked in and saw the strips of linen lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the strips of linen lying there, as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus’ head; the cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in; he saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus must rise from the dead.) So the disciples went back to where they were staying.”

John 20:11-18 (NLT) “Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb. She saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, ‘Dear woman, why are you crying?’ ‘They have taken my Lord away,’ she said, ‘and I don’t know where they have put him.’ Then she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she didn’t realize it was Jesus. ‘Dear woman,’ Jesus said, ‘why are you crying? Who are you looking for?’ She thought he was the gardener and said, ‘Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you put him, and I will go get him.’ ‘Mary!’ Jesus said. She turned to him and cried out, ‘Rabboni!’ (which means ‘Teacher’). Jesus told her, ‘Don’t cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”‘ Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, ‘I have seen the Lord!’ And she told them that he had said these things to her.”

John 20:19-23 (NLT) “That same evening, the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them. ‘Peace be with you,’ he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.’ Then he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.'”

John 20:24-29 (NLT) “Thomas (called Didymus), one of the twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the others told him, ‘We have seen the Lord!’ But he replied, ‘I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in his hands, put my finger into them, and put my hand into his side.’ Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked, but suddenly, as before, Jesus came and stood among them. ‘Peace be with you,’ he said. Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!’ ‘My Lord and my God!’ Thomas exclaimed. Then Jesus told him, ‘You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.'”

John 21:1-14 (NLT) “Later Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened. Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. Simon Peter said, ‘I’m going out to fish,’ and the others went with him. They worked all night and caught nothing. But at daybreak Jesus stood on the beach, though the disciples didn’t realize it was Jesus. ‘Friends,’ he called out, ‘haven’t you any fish?’ ‘No,’ they replied. He said, ‘Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you’ll find some.’ When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, ‘It is the Lord!’ When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he was naked) and jumped into the water. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the large net full of fish behind them—for they were only about a hundred yards from shore. When they landed, they saw a charcoal fire there with fish cooking on it and some bread. Jesus said to them, ‘Bring some of the fish you just caught.’ Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore to land, full of large fish—153 in all! Even though there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, ‘Come and have breakfast.’ None of the disciples dared to ask, ‘Who are you?’—they knew it was the Lord. Jesus came, took the bread, and gave it to them, and he did the same with the fish. This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples after rising from the dead.”

Acts 2:22-24 (NLT) “Fellow Israelites, listen to this: Jesus the Nazarene was a man commended to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him among you, as you yourselves know—this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.”

Acts 2:29-32 (NLT) “Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.”

Acts 3:15 (NLT) “You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses to this.”

Acts 4:10 (NLT) “let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man stands before you healed.”

Acts 4:33 (NLT) “And the apostles gave powerful testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God’s great blessing was upon them all.”

Acts 10:39-41 (NLT) “We are witnesses of everything he did in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They even killed him by hanging him on a cross, but God raised him to life on the third day and caused him to be seen, not by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.”

Romans 4:25 (NLT) “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”

Romans 6:4-5 (NLT) “Because we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. For we know that our old sinful selves
