27 Encouraging Bible Verses on who God says we are

Transformation Through Christ

“Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

“Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” (Ephesians 1:4–5)

Chosen and Beloved

“To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)

“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)

Status and Belonging

“You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

“We are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives.” (Philippians 3:20)

Completeness and Purpose

“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)

Freedom and Righteousness

“Our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.” (Romans 6:6–7)

Indwelling and Sealing

“Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God. You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price.” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20)

“When you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people.” (Ephesians 1:13–14)

In Christ I am completely accepted. God says that…

I am God’s child: “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” (John 1:12)

I am Christ’s friend: “I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.” (John 15:15)

I have been justified: “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” (Romans 5:1)

I am united with the Lord and I am one spirit with Him: “But the person who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him.” (1 Corinthians 6:17)

I have been bought with a price; I belong to God: “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price.” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20)

I am a member of Christ’s Body: “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)

I am a saint, a holy one: “I am writing to God’s holy people in Ephesus, who are faithful followers of Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 1:1)

I have been adopted as God’s child: “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” (Ephesians 1:5)

I have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit: “Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.” (Ephesians 2:18)

I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins: “who purchased our freedom and forgave our sins.” (Colossians 1:14)

I am complete in Christ: “So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” (Colossians 2:10)

In Christ I am totally secure. God says that…

I am free forever from condemnation: “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.” (Romans 8:1–2)

I am assured all things work together for good: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” (Romans 8:28)

I am free from any condemning charges against me: “Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.” (Romans 8:31–34)

I cannot be separated from the love of God: “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39)
